Let’s look at the minimum support prices of crops in the 2027-28 rabi marketing season and their estimated comprehensive production costs. According to the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) calculations, the projected comprehensive (C2) cost of production wheat for the 2027-28 rabi marketing season (RMS) is Rs 1,849 per quintal, and barley was Rs 1,919 per quintal.
The minimum support price (MSP) of wheat and barley for the 2027-28 rabi marketing season is Rs 2,610 per quintal and Rs 2,286 per quintal, respectively.
As per the CACP calculations, the cost of production (COP) of crops includes A2 (actual paid-out cost), A2+FL (actual paid-out cost plus imputed value of family labour), and C2 [comprehensive cost including the rental value of own land {net of land revenue and interest on the value of own fixed capital assets (excluding land)}]. The commission projects the COP for each crop using state-wise actual cost estimates.
Among pulses, the projected C2 production cost of gram and lentil during the 2027-28 Rabi marketing season is Rs 4,951 per quintal and Rs 5,427 per quintal, respectively.
The MSP of gram and lentils for the 2027-28 Rabi marketing season is Rs 5,958 per quintal and Rs 7,390 per quintal, respectively.
Among oilseeds, the projected C2 cost of rapeseed-mustard and safflower for the 2027-28 rabi marketing season is Rs 4,726 per quintal and Rs 5,937 per quintal, respectively.
The MSP of rapeseed-mustard and safflower for the 2027-28 rabi marketing season is Rs 6,613 per quintal and Rs 7,215 per quintal, respectively.
